A new statement from Bookends of Fowey – 23rd March 2020

Since the announcement that we made last week the situation regarding Covid-19 has developed so dramatically that sadly we can no longer remain open.  In line with many shops in Fowey and with the two big high street book retailers Blackwell’s and Waterstones, we will close our bookshop today and hopefully reopening when the crisis has passed.

You can still buy books, stationery, greetings cards and art materials from us, which we will deliver to our customers in Fowey or mail out to people further afield.

A comprehensive list of both the new and second-hand books we stock can be found by going to the Bookends of Fowey website home page www.bookendsoffowey.com and clicking on the link to search our stock.  You can order via AbeBooks, and you can telephone or e-mail us.  Contact details are at the end of this statement.

You can also order new books that we are not holding in our shop stock, and we will arrange for them to be posted to you direct, from Gardners, our new book wholesaler.  Again, just telephone or e-mail us.

We always sell books by mail order, this will just be an extension of what we usually do, but we will be reducing our postage costs to £2.00 for 1st class post and £1.50 for 2nd class post for standard-sized books.

Please try to use independent shops within Fowey and further afield.  It is too easy to click on the Amazon button, but small independents will struggle during this difficult time and will appreciate every purchase that you make with them.  Please do your bit to keep independent retailers on the high street.

Thank you for your invaluable and continuing support for us, for other local businesses in the community and other bookshops around the country.

Remember, books can bring great solace during difficult times.
